The Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life hosted Repro Shabbat last week, joining the national initiative launched six years ago by the National Council of Jewish Women on the Shabbat of Parshat Mishpatim. The program invites Jewish communities to explore reproductive health and freedom through a Jewish lens.

Across Shabbat, four students shared reflections on reproductive justice. The programming continued beyond the weekend, with students gathering during the week to pack care packages for a healthcare clinic to distribute to patients. We also screened Under G-d, a documentary examining abortion bans and religious freedom in the wake of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The screening was followed by a talkback and Q&A with Rabbi Naima Hirsch Gelman and Liz Zimmerman, Community Organizer for NCJWNY’s Jews for Repro NY campaign.
