Meaningful Jewish Experiences Scholarship
Currently enrolled Columbia/Barnard/JTS/MSM undergraduate students are eligible to receive the Meaningful Jewish Experiences Scholarship to offset or cover the cost of a trip, conference, program, or other meaningful Jewish experience. This scholarship can be applied towards the program fee for something that Hillel partially funds, or for a non-Hillel related Jewish experience.
Scholarships of up to $50 (domestic experiences) or $200 (international experiences) are awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate how participating in the experience will elevate and contribute to Jewish life on campus. Students are eligible to apply and receive funding once per academic year. Funds are limited and will be distributed as applications are received.
Reimbursement is contingent on submitting a receipt and the appropriate form within the semester in which you were granted the scholarship. If you have any questions, please email Shana Zionts, Associate Director.
The Meaningful Jewish Experiences Scholarship is in honor of Carrie Darsky, who served as Columbia/Barnard’s Hillel Assistant Director for eight years. During her time at Columbia/Barnard Hillel, Carrie was a dedicated advocate for students, and ensured that Hillel could meet the needs of students whether in-house or by providing this scholarship to experience Jewish life beyond campus. Carrie continues to be a cheerleader for the Columbia/Barnard Hillel family.
