ASB Rio: A First-Year Adventure in Brazil
First-year students spent spring break immersed in the vibrant culture of Rio de Janeiro, exploring the intersection of Jewish and Brazilian traditions. Between footvolley lessons on the beach, Jewish walking tours, and a boat adventure, students experienced the warmth of Rio’s Jewish community firsthand. For the Class of 2028, ASB Rio provided a foundation for lifelong friendships and deeper connections to Jewish life on campus.
ASB Poland: Exploring the Past, Present, & Future of Jewish Life
In Poland, students walked through centuries of Jewish history. They met with members of today’s growing Polish Jewish community, visited historic sites including the Warsaw Ghetto, Kazimierz, and Auschwitz, and engaged with historians and community leaders. Throughout the journey, students witnessed firsthand how communities can rebuild after loss and what the future of Jewish life in Poland looks like.
ASB Cuba: Discovering Jewish Community in Havana
In Havana, students stepped into a world where Jewish history and Cuban culture intertwine. They met with members of the small but strong Jewish community, learned about efforts to preserve Jewish life in Cuba, and explored Havana’s music, dance, and history. This immersive experience provided students with a new perspective on Jewish identity and commitment in underserved communities.
ASB Habitat for Humanity: Volunteering in the Community
Our Habitat for Humanity group spent the week making a tangible impact in Greensboro, North Carolina—learning from local leaders and giving back through service. Between meaningful work days and exploring Greensboro’s history and culture with new friends, students saw firsthand how volunteering can make a huge impact, not only for the people they are helping, but also within themselves.
