On the first night of Hanukkah, we gathered at the Sundial to co-sponsor Chabad’s annual campus-wide menorah lighting, followed by Hillel’s Hanukkah party in Lerner Hall which was co-sponsored by Chabad. More than 200 students gathered to enjoy art projects like dreidel and candle making, fun games, and plenty of sufganiyot and latkes. It was a meaningful opportunity for students to come together, connect, and celebrate.

The event followed a difficult weekend, marked by the tragic and fatal shootings at a Hanukkah party at Bondi Beach, Australia, and at Brown University. Celebrating Hanukkah together served as a reminder of the importance of continuing to bring light and joy in our lives, even in moments of darkness. We continue to hold close the victims and their families, the communities impacted, and all those shaken by this senseless violence.
