Over 350 students, faculty, staff, and leaders from Columbia University and Barnard College gathered in Lerner Hall to remember the horrific attacks of October 7, 2023. We heard moving reflections from Yasmin Magal (cousin of Omer Neutra, killed on Oct. 7), Sigal Moran (Chairwoman of Kibbutz Kfar Aza), and Maya Izoutcheev (a Nova Festival survivor). We also welcomed Dikla Shamriz, mother of Alon, who was taken hostage and tragically killed in Gaza. Students lit memorial candles and offered prayers for the State of Israel. Following the program, students gathered at the Kraft Center for Jewish Life—together in community and supporting one another.
