To kick off the holidays, students first gathered on campus to set intentions for the New Year, enjoy sweet treats, and send Shanah Tovah (sweet new year) cards to each other. Students from our Russian Speaking Jews (RSJ) group hosted a special “Russia Shanah” celebration, while others volunteered with DOROT to deliver holiday packages to local older adults.

During Rosh Hashanah, Undergraduate students participated in Rosh Hashanah services, dinners and lunches, a relaxing Rosh Hashanah yoga session, and Tashlich at Riverside Park with Reb Sarah. Through the Grad Network, graduate students welcomed 5787 with an Erev Rosh Hashanah dinner, a Day 1 Rosh Hashanah Seder featuring traditional simanim (symbolic foods), and their own Tashlich service at Riverside Park.

Together, these gatherings offered students meaningful opportunities to welcome the Jewish New Year with intention, joy, and community. It was a meaningful way to begin both the new school year and 5787, bringing students together for celebration, reflection, and connection.
