JQ (the Jewish/LGBTQ+ community affiliated with Hillel) collaborated with Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies to welcome more than 175 attendees for a powerful screening of Sabbath Queen, followed by a moving conversation between director Sandi DuBowski and the film’s subject, Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie. The event invited attendees into a thoughtful exploration of identity, tradition, and transformation. Together, the speakers reflected on what it means to carve out space for ourselves within our communities while remaining deeply rooted in them, and challenged us to consider what it truly means and what it takes to stay at the table when conversations become difficult.
