On Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, we gathered to commemorate with a student-led candle lighting ceremony followed by a testimony from Ernie Brod (CC’58). It was a privilege to welcome Ernie back to the Kraft Center, the place where he first began publicly sharing his story of survival three years ago.
On Yom HaZikaron, Israeli Memorial Day, we gathered for a moving ceremony to honor Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terror. The program featured prayers, music, candle lightings, and sharing stories of victims. We ended with the singing of Hatikvah and a communal transition into Yom Ha’Atzmaut, remembering those who gave their lives so we could live proudly and freely.
On Yom Ha’Atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day, we hosted a festive Israeli party on campus, led by Students Supporting Israel, Aryeh, and Columbia/Barnard Hillel’s Student Executive Board. Students gathered on Van Am Quad to proudly celebrate 78 years of Israeli independence with games, music, and delicious Israeli food.
