Campus Update: April 21, 2024
During times of crisis, Columbia/Barnard Hillel is always here for Jewish students. This is a time of genuine discomfort and even fear for many of us on campus. Let me be clear – the Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life is and will remain open.
Columbia University and the City of New York must do more to protect students. We call on the University Administration to act immediately in restoring calm to campus. The City must ensure that students can walk up and down Broadway and Amsterdam without fear of harassment.
Students looking to be in community with one another, or in need of a quiet place to study or be with friends, are welcome to come by the Kraft Center at any time.
Admitted students and their families who may be on campus today are also welcome to join us at the Kraft Center. We would love the opportunity to share more about our diverse, thriving, and resilient Jewish community.
To the students who remain on campus for Passover, we look forward to celebrating with you in the days ahead. To those who are celebrating elsewhere, we look forward to seeing you after the holiday and wish you a Chag Sameach, Happy Passover.
Many thanks,
Brian Cohen
