Peer Engagement Interns

Peer Engagement Internship (PEI): The Peer Engagement Internship (PEI) is a year-long internship for sophomores and juniors interested in building a community of connectors. Successful interns will build relationships and create meaningful Jewish opportunities for their under-engaged Jewish students through one-on-one coffee chats and occasional event planning.

Internship Tracks:  PEI includes three distinct roles for interns, each offering a unique way to foster Jewish community on campus:
Campus Connector: General engagement interns who prioritize 1-on-1 outreach, focusing on reaching students within their existing communities and networks.
Greek Ambassador: A member of a Greek organization who serves as a Jewish life point-person for their chapter. Greek Ambassadors host at least two Jewish events per semester and have 10 coffee chats with chapter members.
Birthright Street Team: Interns who connect with Birthright-eligible students, helping them learn about the trip, get excited, and sign up for their experience.

Intern Responsibilities

Engage with students who are not already involved in Jewish life on campus through Hillel.
Attend the initial intern training at the Leadership Retreat on Sunday, September 14.
Attend 3 full group meetings each semester.
Check-in with your supervisor  4 times per semester.
Engage 10–25 new students per semester, aiming for 30–50 students over the course of the year.
Plan one event per semester (e.g., Shabbat dinner, holiday meal, social gathering). Events can be co-hosted with a peer.

Community Learning & Development:  PEI meets three times per semester (with dinner!) for skill-building workshops focused on: engagement strategies, leadership and networking, community building through a Jewish lens.

Stipend
Interns are eligible to earn up to $180 per year for a Jewish experience (this can be a ritual item, book, museum trip, etc.). This will be awarded based on student engagement goals and completion of responsibilities.
