Join us for a pre trek briefing with Major General (Res.) Tamir Hayman As part of our upcoming itrek delegation to Israel, we are honored to welcome Major General (Res.) Tamir Hayman, Executive Director of the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) and former Head of the IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate, for a high-level conversation on Israel’s national security challenges and future outlook. This spring, 30 international students from Columbia SIPA—pursuing their Master’s in Public Policy and representing diverse backgrounds from the U.S., India, China, South Korea, and Latin America—will travel to Israel to engage with the country’s political, security, and social landscape through firsthand experiences and dialogue. Many of these students plan to return to their home countries to serve in the public sector. About Major General (Res.) Tamir Hayman: MG Hayman currently serves as the Executive Director of the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), Israel’s leading strategic think tank. Prior to this role, he served as the Head of the IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate from 2018 to 2021. During his 34-year military career, he held various command positions in the ground forces, including operational combat experience in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories. He also served as the commander of the National Defense College and the Northern Corps. MG Hayman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics and a Master’s degree from the National Defense College.
