Israel
Columbia/Barnard Hillel views Israel as both an end in itself (a core value of Jewish life) and as a means to engage our students in a conversation about themselves as individual Jews and as members of the Jewish people. This upcoming academic year we will offer an Israel fellowship. The Israel Fellowship encourages a diverse cohort of students to engage in a deep level discussion to strive to bring about a better critical Israel thinking Jewish society. This fellowship will try to address various over-arching topics such as a Jewish-Democratic state, internal challenges of the Jewish state, Zionism past-present-future and the place of the American Jewry in re-shaping Israel today. Sounds interesting?
