Religious Life
Columbia/Barnard Hlilel strives to promote the multiplicity of Jewish expression while creating a unified Jewish community on campus. It is through great effort that we attempt to reach this lofty goal. Our rabbinic interns, selected from the major American Jewish denominations, work with students in their respective communities and come together to develop educational programs for the community as a whole. Serving over 750 students on a given Shabbat in a warm spirited manner, Columbia/Barnard Hillel is home to as many as four different minyanim (communal prayer group) on a given Friday night. Community-wide Shabbat meals are a cornerstone of our effort to bring a unified yet diverse community together.
