Together with her family, Mila emigrated from her native St. Petersburg (the Leningrad), Russia, in 1979 where she graduated, with honors, from Leningrad State University and, following her arrival in the United States, took course at New York University. Mila has worked as head bookkeeper in a number of different firms and is thrilled to join the Columbia University Hillel family. She has a daughter who lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, who works as a senior engineer for LexisNexis and a son who serves as the executive director of the AVI CHAI Foundation in Jerusalem. Mila likes to travel to Israel and Europe, enjoys classical literature, movies, visiting museum exhibitions, the theater, and loves to cook. She is excited about working in the Jewish environment that Hillel provides for students.
